Full-stack software engineer with 10+ years of experience building platforms that serve 700,000+ users across Colombia and Latin America. Core stack: Java (Spring Boot, Quarkus) and Node.js / TypeScript (NestJS) on the backend; Angular, React and Vue on the frontend; Next.js for full-stack applications; deployed on AWS and Kubernetes. I design microservice, integration and Kafka event-streaming architectures, and I lead engineering teams in payments, transportation, logistics and banking.

Architecture
Cloud-native by design.
Cloud-native designs on AWS, Azure and GCP. DDD, event-driven, observable from day one, load- and chaos-tested before shipping. Ten years across fintech, banking, logistics and transportation, with decisions written down as ADRs.

Integration
Making systems talk.
My trade is making systems talk to each other: Enterprise Integration Patterns with Apache Camel on Quarkus, and Kafka with Connect, Debezium and Streams. Payment gateways, partner and government APIs, message routing and transformation.
AI is in every step of how I work: spec, design, code, review, release. Lately I build the AI side too: agent harnesses, MCP servers, skills, agents, and the governance that lets a company trust them. Claude Code, the Anthropic and OpenAI APIs, LangChain, MCP and Hugging Face on the desk.

RNDC integrations for shippers and carriers, an event-driven freight dispatch lifecycle and legacy modernization without big-bang rewrites.
RNDC integration (Colombian Ministry of Transport) for shippers and carriers such as Grupo Nutresa and Rápido Ochoa: consignment notes, electronic cargo manifests and proof-of-delivery records, with upfront data validation and full traceability of every submission.
Event-driven architecture for the freight dispatch lifecycle (order, consignment note, manifest, proof of delivery) and freight payment reconciliation.
Modernized legacy Oracle/Java systems with the Strangler Fig pattern and CDC (Debezium + Confluent); migrated LDAP to Keycloak / OAuth2.
Tuned Kafka clusters (partitioning, replication, compression) and set up disaster recovery with MirrorMaker 2; observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and Grafana.
Full-stack services for the National Transit Registry and the nationwide electronic toll interoperability platform.
Full stack development of RUNT (National Transit Registry) services with Java, Node.js, Spring WebFlux, Quarkus, Kafka, Angular and React on AWS (Lambda, Docker).
Built IP/REV for the Ministry of Transport: interoperability between toll operators and TAG providers for nationwide electronic toll collection.
Designed reactive, event-driven architecture for distributed microservices; applied TDD and code reviews.
INDRA Colombia · Banco de la República (central bank)
Led two teams building Java microservices for Colombia's central bank, cutting latency by 98% in mission-critical services.
Led two teams of four developers building Java 8-17 microservices (Spring Cloud, GCP Pub/Sub, Apigee, AWS, DynamoDB).
Cut latency by 98% (5 s to 100 ms at 10,000 req/s) in mission-critical microservices using WebFlux, Redis and MongoDB.
Resolved transactional integrity issues by enforcing ACID guarantees, improving data consistency by 90%; launched a Coding Dojo (Jenkins, SonarQube, Kafka).

The platform that lets any toll operator charge any TAG provider's customers across the country, built on an event-driven, highly concurrent, high-throughput transaction architecture.
IP/REV (Electronic Vehicle Toll Collection Interoperability) is the national scheme that makes electronic toll payment work across operators. I was a member of the team that built it: reactive, event-driven microservices designed for high concurrency and transaction throughput, with TDD and code reviews as the working norm.
Consignment notes, electronic cargo manifests and proof-of-delivery records filed with the Ministry of Transport's RNDC, with upfront data validation and full traceability of every submission.
The RNDC (National Cargo Dispatch Registry) is where every land freight dispatch in Colombia must be reported. For shippers and carriers I designed an event-driven lifecycle (order, consignment note, manifest, proof of delivery) with freight payment reconciliation on top, and modernized the surrounding Oracle/Java legacy with the Strangler Fig pattern and change data capture instead of a big-bang rewrite.
Low-latency microservices for Colombia's central bank

Role
Technical lead of two teams
Mission-critical microservices went from 5 seconds to 100 milliseconds at 10,000 requests per second, with ACID guarantees that fixed data consistency.
Two teams of four developers, Java 8 to 17, and a set of services that had to answer fast under load. We rebuilt the hot paths on WebFlux with Redis and MongoDB, resolved transactional integrity issues by enforcing ACID guarantees (90% better data consistency) and launched a Coding Dojo with Jenkins, SonarQube and Kafka so the quality bar outlived the project.
Backstage, AWS Service Catalog and service archetypes so a new service starts on rails. Presented to the C-suite with a measured 40% cut in time-to-market.
Alongside the microservice and Kafka streaming architecture for the payments and mobility platform, I led a Developer Experience initiative: a service catalog in Backstage, AWS Service Catalog products and archetypes that encode the team’s standards (observability, security, testing) from the first commit.

Payments core integration for an airline
Client
Avianca (contractor)
Period
2026 – present
Connecting the airline's payments core with Latin American payment gateways and methods such as DEUNA and Wompi, with Enterprise Integration Patterns on Quarkus and Apache Camel.
Each payment provider speaks its own protocol. The integration layer on the Red Hat stack routes, transforms and reconciles messages between the core and every provider, so adding a new payment method is a new route, not a new project.

Integration bus migration off IBM App Connect
Client
Celsia
Period
2025 – 2026
Led the move of the integration bus from IBM App Connect to on-premise Kubernetes using Quarkus, Apache Camel and Kafka, including the migration strategy for mission-critical metering systems.
The mission-critical power distribution metering systems could not stop while the bus moved. I designed and documented the migration strategy, led the implementation and wired end-to-end observability with Grafana, Loki and Tempo so every route could be watched during the cut-over.
